The wavetable editor for Modbap's Osiris oscillator has been rebuilt to run in any browser, on any machine, with no install. It is free, and it is out now.
Modbap is an independent music technology company building instruments and sound-shaping tools from a beatmaker's perspective. Since 2020, the company has developed a distinct approach to electronic music instruments centered on purposeful controls, playable design, and character-forward sound. Now, Modbap is carrying that same philosophy beyond the rack and into software.
OsirisEdit Web is live at osirisedit.modbap.com. It is the editor for Osiris, Modbap's wavetable oscillator, and it is where owners build the wavetables and WavPaks the module plays. It is free to use and there is nothing to install.
OsirisEdit began life as an open source, Mac-only application. Windows users asked for a version for years. The web edition answers that and goes past it: the same editor now opens on a Mac, a Windows machine, a Linux box or an iPad, from a link.
The desktop application was built for Intel machines and leans on Apple's Rosetta 2 to run on Apple Silicon. As Apple retires Rosetta 2, that binary eventually stops running on new Macs.
Rather than port the app to one more platform and inherit the same problem again, Modbap moved it to the one runtime every platform already ships. The desktop edition still works and its manual still applies. The web edition is the version that keeps working.
Fill all 32 waveforms in one click. Five generators: Harmonic Morph, Additive Random, Catalog Shapes, Glitch / Chaos, and FM / Phase Distortion. A Coherence control sets how smoothly the 32 waves evolve across the table, from a single glide to 32 independent shapes.
Collect wavetables as you make them, up to 128, then package the whole set into the Osiris A / B / C / D folder structure as a zip in one click. Unzip it onto the SD card and it is done. Saved wavetables can be pulled back in from disk.
Sample rate, bit depth, bank length and wave length, with a queue instead of a folder picker. A Faithful mode reproduces the original app's behaviour at non-standard settings exactly, so banks built years ago stay bit identical. A Corrected mode cleans it up for anyone who wants that instead.
A theme toggle that remembers what you picked, for people who edit waveforms at two in the morning.
The wavetable engine is a port, not a reimplementation. All twelve effects, the FFT conventions and the harmonic model were verified against the original C++ to within floating point rounding, on the order of 1e-5. Wavetables built in the browser are intended to match what the desktop app produced from the same input.
Terminology follows the Osiris manual throughout: a waveform is 256 samples, a wavetable is the set of 32 waveforms you edit, and a WavPak is the A / B / C / D structure that goes on the SD card.
The original OsirisEdit User Manual covers every core concept and still applies. A Web Edition Addendum documents what the browser version adds and where it behaves differently. Both are linked from the Manual menu inside the app.
OsirisEdit Web is free and open to anyone. There is no review copy to request and no key to send. Open it and use it.
